I know this is coming a little late, but I thought...better to post late than never!
On March 2nd, I threw a birthday party for Dr. Seuss at our library! This was my first big event and I was so nervous about what the turnout would be, and whether or not the adults and kids attending would have a good time.
I started prepping for the party in the beginning of February -- figuring out my budget, planning the different games and crafts, and seeing who would be in and willing to help me with all of the different stations. My coworkers helped me out so much, and I am immensely grateful for them! Donell designed our "photo booth" for the party (seen on the left!), and Kara and Maddy both manned the desk, and helped run the party whilst it was happening! Others donated paper towel rolls to the cause, so that we could make Trufulla trees (which turned out GREAT!).
So, what did we do?
There were two different craft tables, one where you were able to make your own Trufulla tree with a TP/Paper Towel roll and some tissue paper. The other craft was to make your own Dr. Seuss hat. Both were a huge hit! I also had out coloring sheets and craft sheets that went with the Dr. Seuss theme.

After crafts, we had a storytime where I read Green Eggs and Ham for the kids, and then we sang Happy Birthday to Dr. Seuss. I was also going to do a flannel board of One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish which my coworker Maddy made, but I was so excited that I forgot to do it -- the kids still had a blast playing with the flannel pieces, though!
We also had a bags game for the kids to play, a picture wall, and goodie bags at the end which had some candy, a Dr. Seuss pencil and a Dr. Seuss bookmark inside.
Overall, 30 kids and adults came, which may not seem like a lot, but for a Monday night program, I was so pleased!
I'm so thankful that the event turned out to be a blast with a great turn out, and I'm so very thankful for all of the help that I received to make it such a successful event!
Till next time! Cheers!
