Hi all!
Wow, it has been nearly 6 months since I have posted anything on Miss Julia's Life in the Library, but I have a good excuse! At the end of April I started as a Youth Services Librarian at the Deerfield Public Library, and it has been an exciting whirl-wind ever since!

Look at that! It's me doing Picnic Storytime (talking about bugs!) for an awesome bunch of kids and their caregivers two weeks ago!
As I said, 2016 has kind of gotten away from me, but I'm hoping to start blogging again in my new position, as I have some AWESOME programs and ideas coming up for this Fall - specifically related to Special Needs programming and Tech Programming! I'm also refocusing and recommitting to EARLY LITERACY which is the most important thing of all to me!

For example, as you can see above, I'm hoping to add more Early Literacy spots to our preschool pavilion area/bathrooms/front of the desk -- basically anywhere kids can reach! The above crayon board was an idea I got from the AMAZING Brooke Newberry (aka @be_newberry)! I love love love that as librarians, we share our ideas and encourage others to use and adapt them! So thank you, Brooke!
I also want to mention how AMAZING, WELCOMING, AND WONDERFUL my new boss and coworkers have been! I feel an instant connection with all of them, and I couldn't be happier to be working alongside some incredible librarians!
Lastly, I want to just say how privileged I feel to have worked at the GPPL -- I made some forever friends through my coworkers and patrons, and I miss my babies so so much! I'm so lucky to have Facebook and to have shared phone numbers with many of my coworkers and patrons -- to keep in touch and to make sure they don't forget Miss Julia! haha :)
Anyways -- bear with me as I continue on this new path! I am definitely going to be posting and sharing ideas way more than I was!
Loveeeeee, Miss Julia!
